Joining the Military?

Have any of you ever thought about joining the Military?
I've recently found myself thinking of enlisting in the Army for a term. I know it would suck to go to the middle east but there is alot of Non-Combat jobs that you can get. I've talked to a soldier and he told me there are alot of ways to joining without going over there and seeing any combat.

I plan to enlist when i turn 17... or something for the marines. but something may happen to change my mind :D. I have six months to go till im 17 so.
